Swedish climate panic expedition
stuck in polar ice with monster icebreaker ...
In addition, scientists are concerned about the presence of too many polar bears,
so next time they call for a better icebreaker to study climate cha.nge
- this is reported by the Swedish newspaper "Aftonbladet".
About 13 Swedish scientists have left for the Arctic with the 40,000 ton icebreaker "Oden".
Their goal: to study climate change, especially ice melt (!) and warmer air currents from the south, which - as is constantly rumored - would destroy the ice sheet.
The researchers were firmly convinced that the Arctic would be the "canary" of climate change, because here the warming is supposed to proceed faster.
Too much ice and aggressive polar bears
The "Oden" sailed as far as it could, but only got as far as north of Spitsbergen and Greenland:
"The ice was quite a difficult business. We didn't get as far north as we would have liked."
- says Michael Tjernström, professor of meteorology at Stockholm University.
The impenetrable fog also made it difficult for everyone.
Then the next worldly dampener:
"And we didn't find as much warm air flow as we had hoped."
- the Swedish scientist added with a last glimmer of hope: because
June 10 is only the beginning of the melting season. About which he was very happy.
The climate researchers were also threatened by aggressive polar bears that lurk in the area and are still not extinct despite climate change. Climate researchers reported 30 encounters in number.
"They cause us problems when they get too close. And so we have to stop doing research on the ice field. On the other hand, of course, it's great to see them." - Tjernström says.
And further:
"The icebreaker has been very good so far. But in the future we will need a better and better icebreaker. The climate is not waiting."
Waits for what? Apparently not for climate change.
Similar incident already 10 years ago at the South Pole
Already 10 years ago, a climate research ship met the same fate in Antarctica. At that time, the ice was so thick that even two icebreakers could not reach the trapped ship. So one could read in the Süddeutsche Zeitung:
"The Chinese icebreaker 'Snow Dragon' had to abort its rescue operation, climate researcher Chris Turney announced via Twitter."
Here is a screeshot of part of the article:
Climate researchers too gullible and careless
Perhaps the climate researchers have relied on an article published in 2007 in the WELT, where an ice-free North Pole was already predicted for 2012 (below in the left image detail).
It would have been better if they had read the Focus article (image detail on the right),
where the ice-free status of the Arctic was then postponed by 17 years.
Then they would not have had to hope for the "warm air current" in the cold polar.

I got off the ferry and checked the hotel.
When I was going out, I met a fellow passenger from the ferry
and asked if him if we could share the room.
He didn’t know if the room had one or two beds, so he asked the hotel.
We got permission from the hotel owner’s son that he could host me,
so I’m staying with him tonight at the hotel.
